Tour information:
This is a full day trip to the largest Bulgarian monastery - the Rila monastery, included in the UNESCO List for World cultural heritage. The distance from Sofia to the Rila monastery is 130 km and takes 2,5 to 3 hours. Departure is 09:00 in the morning from Sofia. Arrival is expected around 16:30-17:00 in the evening depending on road conditions.

The Rila Monastery, the most impressive monument from the Bulgarian National Revival period is situated in the Rila Mountain. This is Bulgarian most famous tourist attraction and the centre of Bulgarian culture and religion for centuries dating 10thc. Touring the largest monastery in the Balkans and observing its unrivalled architecture and beautiful murals, one understands why Rila Monastery is on the List of World Cultural Heritage.

Visit the main church of the Holy Virgin with its fine wood carved iconostasis and exquisite frescoes.
