Tour information:
This is a full day trip to Plovdiv and the Backovo monastery. The distance from Sofia to Plovdiv is 150 km and takes about 2 hours. Departure is 08:30 in the morning from Sofia. Upon arrival follows a sightseeing tour in Plovdiv.

The distance from Plovdiv to Backovo is 35 km and takes about 30 minutes.

Arrival in Sofia is expected around 17:30-18:00 in the evening.

Sightseeing information:
Plovdiv is a city with 3,000 years long history, National Revival architecture and excavations from Roman times, situated on hills in the middle of the fertile Thracian plain. Sightseeing in the Old city including visit of the ancient Roman Theatre with impressive marble statues, decorative columns and arcades. See the St.Constantine and Helena Church, one of the oldest churches in the city with magnificent wallpaintings and old icons.

The Bachkovo Monastery is founded in 1083 A.D. and is the second largest in Bulgaria. See the Holy Virgin Church /16-17th c./ with its fine frescoes and the famous "miracle" icon of the Mother of God / 14th c./.
