FIRST DAY
Arrival in Sofia, the Bulgarian capital. Accommodation and overnight.
SECOND DAY
Breakfast and departure for the royal city of Veliko Turnovo. Sightseeing tour of Veliko Turnovo, visiting Tsarevets hill - an impressive sight with its imposing Medieval fortifications and dramatic architecture, the Revival Shopping Street. Drive to the museum town of Arbanassi, boasting a genuine gallery of art in its Church of Nativity. Departure for Kazanlak, the center of the famous Bulgarian Valley of Roses via the historical Shipka Pass. Dinner with typical dishes, Bulgarian wine and folk dances show from the region. Overnight stay in Kasanlak.
THIRD DAY
Breakfast. Visits of the Historical museum where the Thracian gold treasures from the region are exhibited and the Thracian Tomb /4th c.B.C/ replica, included in the UNESCO list of World Cultural Heritage. Experience rose-distilling ritual, tasting of rose jam and rose liquer at the Ethnographic complex Kulata.
Departure to Plovdiv – ranking second in importance after Sofia. Sightseeing tour of the Old town of Plovdiv with its 3,000 years long history, National Revival architecture and excavations from Roman times. Visit of the ancient Roman theater with impressive marble statues, decorative columns and arcades. Accommodation and dinner in Plovdiv.
FOURTH DAY
After breakfast drive southwards of Plovdiv to visit the Bachkovo Monastery / 11th c./ - one of the richest galleries of the old Bulgarian art with its exquisite murals and medieval icons. Departure to a local winery – wine tasting of local wines among which Mavrud – unique Bulgarian sort of grapes and wine. Continue to one of the best Bulgarian winter resorts – Bansko via Velingrad spa resort. Cobblestone streets, traditional stone houses and richly endowed churches create an unique ambience. Dinner and overnight.
FIFTH DAY
Breakfast and departure to the Rozhen Monastery / 12th c./, built in a fortress-like style above strange stone formations, precipices and pyramids. Continuing to the museum town of Melnik, located amidst the fantastic scenery of high sandstone pyramids and one of the main wine producing regions in Bulgaria. Lunch with tasting of locally produced wine. Tour goes on to the famous spa resort of Sandansky. Dinner and stay at Sandansky.
SIXTH DAY
After breakfast departure to the Rila Monastery/10th c./ , included in the UNESCO List of World Cultural Heritage, the largest and the most admirable Bulgarian monastery. Tour of the monastery complex, church and museum with its lavish collection of precious old manuscripts, icons, jewelry, masterpieces of woodcarving, an ethnographic exhibition of fabrics and carpets.
Continuing to Sofia. Dinner and overnight.
SEVENTH DAY
Breakfast. Sightseeing tour of Sofia – a city with a 7000 years long history, concentrating numerous cultural and historic monuments from different periods. Visits of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral with the richest collection of icons on the Balkan peninsula, the St. George Rotunda from the 4 century , the St.Sofia Basilica , the Ruins of Serdica. Dinner with Bulgarian wine and folklore show. Overnight in Sofia.
EIGHTH DAY
Breakfast. Departure flight.
