Day 01 SOFIA
Arrival in Sofia - the capital of Bulgaria. Accommodation and overnight in Sofia.
Day 02 SOFIA – RILA MONASTERY – PLOVDIV
Departure to the Rila Monastery/10th c/, UNESCO World Heritage site, the largest and the most impressive Bulgarian monastery. Tour of the monastery complex, church and museum with its lavish collection of precious old manuscripts, icons, jewellery, masterpieces of woodcarving, ethnographic exhibition of fabrics and carpets. Continue to Plovdiv – a city ranking second in importance after Sofia, passing through the highest Bulgarian mountain - Rila. Overnight in Plovdiv.
Day 03 PLOVDIV- SMILYAN- PAMPOROVO
In the morning departure to the village of Smilyan. Situated in one of the most beautiful Bulgarian mountains, Rhodopes, it carries the spirit of passed times. Yoghurt making experience in a small milk farm where traditions are still preserved. Demonstration of the whole process of yoghurt making and preparation of home made cow butter. In the afternoon driving to Pamporovo- a famous Bulgarian mountain resort. Accommodation and overnight in Pamporovo.
Day 04 PAMPOROVO- BACHKOVO MONASTERY – PLOVDIV
Departure to Bachkovo monastery /11th c/ - one of the richest galleries of traditional Bulgarian religious art with exquisite murals and medieval icons Sightseeing of the monastery, which is the second largest in Bulgaria after the Rila monastery. Departure to Plovdiv. Sightseeing of the Old town of Plovdiv with its 3,000 years long history, National Revival architecture and excavations from Roman times. Visit of the ancient Roman theatre with impressive marble statues, decorative columns and arcades. Overnight in Plovdiv.
Day 05 PLOVDIV- KAZANLAK- VELIKO TARNOVO
In the morning driving to Kazanlak- the capital of the famous Valley of Roses. Visit the recently discovered Thracian golden treasures in Kazanlak Historical Museum. Continue with one of the UNESCO’s sites – the Thracian Tomb dating back from the 4th c .B.C. Tasting of different types of Bulgarian yoghurt. Departure to the town of Veliko Tarnovo. Overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.
Day 06 VELIKO TURNOVO – ARBANASSI- SOFIA
Sightseeing tour of Veliko Turnovo, including Tsarevets hill - an impressive sight with medieval fortifications and dramatic architecture. Departure to the museum town of Arbanassi boasting a genuine gallery of art in its Church of Nativity. Yoghurt making experience in Arbanassi- preparing and tasting of home made yoghurt in traditional atmosphere. It will be explained to the tourists how to prepare their own yoghurt. Because it needs to remain covered in a warm place for 3 hours tourists will taste another home made yoghurt. Driving back to Sofia. Overnight in Sofia.
Day 07 SOFIA
Sightseeing tour of Sofia – a city with 7000 years long history, concentrating numerous cultural and historic monuments from different periods. Visits of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the St. George Rotunda from the 4th century, the St.Sofia Basilica, the Ruins of Serdica. Lunch with tasting of different types of Bulgarian milk products. Dinner with folk show. Overnight in Sofia.
Day 08 SOFIA
Transfer to the airport for departure flight.
